The role

An opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Analyst to join our Member Outcomes Team within the Life and Private Health Insurance and Superannuation (LPHIS) Division.

The Member Outcomes Team is the lead team conducting industry thematic that support APRA’s strategic initiatives to strengthen member outcomes in superannuation.

As a Senior Analyst you are responsible for identifying, analysing and investigating prudential risks and issues in collaboration with other specialist risk, data and supervision teams.

The team

The Life and Private Health Insurance and Superannuation Division performs prudential supervision and risk assessment of regulated entities to achieve APRA’s purpose of ensuring a stable, competitive and efficient financial system. The division comprises supervisory teams and specialist teams that operate across the country.

Key responsibilities

  • Contributing to projects (e.g. data-driven thematic supervision work across superannuation trustees) to address current and emerging risks relating to member outcomes and strengthen practices across APRA-regulated superannuation entities;
  • Providing subject-matter expertise on outcomes being provided to members by APRA-regulated superannuation entities, including insights into entity practices relative to the industry;
  • Communicating to key stakeholders APRA’s expectations on member outcomes; and
  • Providing input into policy initiatives and working with other government agencies on initiatives aimed at improving member outcomes.

About you

  • Strong analytical, assessment and judgement skills to help you identify key risks and recommend options to address prudential risk for the industry;
  • Financial modelling and data analysis skills to inform effective decision-making (using tools such as Power BI, SAS or R etc will be highly regarded);
  • Knowledge and understanding of the superannuation industry, including up-to-date, broad knowledge of industry trends and regulatory developments;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills including the ability to produce clear and succinct briefings and documents for management;
  • A strong ability to plan, prioritise, coordinate and contribute to projects is highly desirable;
  • A proactive and flexible mindset, a willingness to offer new ideas and a fresh perspective; and
  • Qualification in a finance or related discipline.
