The role
We’re looking for an Integration Engineer to support and evolve APRA’s integration and application landscape. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational stability with innovation.
70% of your time will be focused on business-as-usual (BAU) activities: maintaining, supporting, and enhancing legacy Java and Oracle-based applications that are critical to APRA’s operations.
30% of your time will be dedicated to project work, including designing and building new integration solutions using modern platforms and practices.
You’ll work across a mix of technologies, with a strong focus on MuleSoft, Java, SQL, and Oracle. Hands-on experience is essential, especially in troubleshooting and improving existing systems.
The team
This position reports to the Applications Manager, Data, within the Enterprise Data Solutions Team, part of the Data, Technology and Security (DTS) division. The team manages APRA’s data and integration platforms and collaborates with business and project teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance legacy Java and Oracle-based platforms that support core business functions.
- Support and evolve existing MuleSoft integrations, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Design and implement new integration solutions using APIs, middleware, and cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand integration needs and deliver scalable solutions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration and application issues.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and version control practices.
- Document integration processes and promote best practices.
- Challenging the status quo and seeking opportunities to simplify testing processes.
About you
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, SQL, and Oracle in enterprise environments.
- Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform or similar integration tools.
- Exposure to data products and data warehousing is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working across both BAU and project environments.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- We are open to various levels of experience —we value capability and potential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other integration tools and platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- Certification in Mulesoft or Azure.
