The role

As Senior Manager, you will oversee APRA’s governance arrangements, provide strategic advice to leadership and support regulatory compliance.

You will bring clear thought leadership, strong communication skills and a practical understanding of governance. You will also support best practice decision making and provide trusted advice, reporting to the General Manager, Strategy and Governance.

The team

The Governance and Information Governance teams sit within APRA’s Chief of Staff and Enterprise Services Division (ChES). 

This division is responsible for key stakeholder management and communications to internal and external audiences, as well as providing corporate shared services functions that assist other areas of APRA to achieve its strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Governance and Information Governance functions of APRA;
  • Ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the APRA Executive Board and its committees, promoting high standards of communication and integrity;
  • Ensure compliance with key regulatory obligations, including those required under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act;
  • Ensure appropriate governance of APRA’s information and records, in compliance with regulatory obligations;
  • Drive actions to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of APRA’s governance arrangements;
  • Model inclusive leadership behaviours and instil a culture of openness, where divergent views are shared and respected;
  • Guide and support team members in their performance and development ; and
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external committee members.

About you

  • Strong leadership skills, with an ability to set direction and drive continued improvement;
  • Strong understanding of best practice governance and company secretariat functions;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to instil confidence and trust;
  • Ability to exercise good judgement to prioritise and deliver on multiple responsibilities;
  • Proven experience to lead and inspire teams to achieve high performance, through coaching, mentoring and training; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, suitable for a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
