The role
As a Principal Analyst, you will lead and undertake high-quality risk identification, risk assessment and supervisory responses for a defined portfolio of banking institutions. The role contributes to APRA’s objective, and the government’s, of delivering a prudentially sound financial system.
The team
The General Insurance and Banking Division supports APRA’s core function by undertaking prudential supervision activities to deliver on APRA’s mandate.
Key responsibilities
· Collaborate with peers to lead supervision of a portfolio on banking institutions, including contributing to APRA-wide initiatives.
· Develop and implement supervision strategies in line with APRA’s supervision framework, for individual entities and across the portfolio, to identify and respond to material prudential issues.
· Lead supervision engagement with regulated entities.
· Engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve portfolio outcomes.
· Develop and oversee analysts and senior analysts in the delivery of supervision activities.
About you
· Deep understanding of financial and non‑financial risks and market trends that may impact the supervision of banking institutions.
· Demonstrated experience testing and adapting different approaches to improve team effectiveness.
· Knowledge of relevant prudential standards and legislation.
· Excellent prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple work streams effectively.
· Established financial analysis, investigative and research skills.
· Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
· Highly developed critical thinking and judgement skills.
