The role
This multi-faceted role contributes to the redesign of APRA’s internal and external reporting suite, as APRA continues its focus on transforming our technology and use of data.
The PowerBI developer will contribute to the design, build, and maintenance of dashboards and interactive reports which serve the data dissemination process across different data collections.
The team
Business Data Reporting sits within Business & External Data Reporting (BEDR), a team within APRA’s Chief Data Office function. The wider BEDR team, including External Data Reporting and Data Processes, is responsible for the transformation and dissemination of data within APRA via interactive visualisations, dashboards, and other data access points. These products are leveraged internally by APRA’s supervision and risk teams to support decision making. The BEDR team is also responsible for the external dissemination of data via APRA’s formal Statistical Publication suite, which is also supported by the Data Processes team. It is expected that some initiatives will see you working in blended teams, oriented around data products or delivery streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with supervisors and other SME’s to gather requirements for reporting
- Iteratively prototype to fine-tune requirements based on user feedback
- Design and build reports using PowerBI and Azure PowerBI, including creating calculations using DAX, transforming and modelling data from SSAS cubes and the data warehouse, and designing visualisations that best support the gathering of insights and smooth workflow
- Work with developers and modellers to provide requirements for how the data is structured in data access layers to best support its use in reports
- Work with testers to determine test scope, approach and test cases when testing reports and calculations
- Support users in the use of PowerBI to consume and build reports, including providing training
- Provide guidance on best practice in terms of report design and building in PowerBI, contributing to a PowerBI centre of excellence
Provide input on data collection and taxonomy design to facilitate report building and data querying
About you
- Demonstrated experience in PowerBI report generation and experience utilising large data sets.
- Coding experience SQL and / or SSAS is beneficial
- Ability to create comprehensive handover documents, guides, and procedures to ensure effective knowledge transfer and continuity of business intelligence projects.
- Ability to manage the needs and expectations of a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
