The role
We are seeking an experienced L&D Partner to join us in our Sydney office for a 10-month parental leave contract. This is an exciting time to join APRA as we invest further in L&OD initiatives under the strategic leadership of a new Chief People Officer, who is working closely with board members and the executive team to strengthen organisational engagement, culture and leadership capability.
You will report to the Head of Organisational Development & Learning in a specialist team of four, working closely with other members of the P&C team and business leaders to support APRA’s corporate objectives. The team designs and implements key L&OD initiatives to develop and build capability to meet current and future individual and organisational needs, such as capability development, performance coaching, employee engagement and team development.
As L&D Partner, you will collaborate with APRA leaders and their teams to deliver enterprise-wide and divisional programs, working closely with external providers, who design, develop and deliver graduate development and soft skills training. In addition, you will support the Senior L&OD Partners in coordinating leadership development programs, and will engage with the Chair and Board Members to facilitate the monthly induction program.
The team
The Chief of Staff & Enterprise Services (ChES) division of APRA is integral to the organisation, ensuring strategic alignment, effective communication and robust governance. Within this sits our cohesive and collaborative People & Culture (P&C) team of 25 professionals, who deliver initiatives that are aligned with business strategy across the employee lifecycle. The Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) team is part of the broader P&C team and focuses on developing strategies that enhance the employee experience, from compensation to leadership, engagement, inclusion, capability development and performance.
Key responsibilities
Delivery of comprehensive L&D programs that address the diverse needs of APRA and support the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives;
Proactively build and maintain strong working relationships with key business stakeholders, providing expert advice and facilitating their application of L&D processes to improve capability and engagement;
Ensure learning and development solutions support APRA’s values and are consistent with APRA’S capability frameworks and learning pathways;
Build and implement a fit-for-purpose onboarding plan for all roles, to ensure compliance, skill and knowledge build, engagement and retention;
Create engaging, interactive, and effective learning programs and initiatives;
Support Graduate and early talent development programs to ensure the relevant program develops, enhances, and fosters an environment for early career individuals to evolve into quality professionals in line with APRA’s objectives;
End-to-end management of capability development initiatives that incorporate high quality processes and supports the day-to-day operational execution of APRA’s learning strategy;
Identify and measure learning outcomes linked to performance and business outcomes;
Contribute to the continuous improvement and iteration of all learning programs, initiatives and projects; and
Utilise APRA’s LMS platform to support efficient and effective processes that support learning across the organisation.
About you
End-to-end L&D experience within financial or professional services preferred;
Proven success in learning and development with experience in contemporary talent development strategy and practice;
Experience designing and delivering learning and development programs;
Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills;
Demonstrated strength in facilitation, consulting, and performance coaching;
Project and change management experience;
Experience and capability with development tools such as Hogan Leadership Suite, DISC, 360-degree feedback assessments and similar instruments;
Ability to draw data insights and make data-informed decisions;
Ability to communicate effectively and interact with executive leadership level;
Demonstrated credibility working with stakeholders, building trust and influence to achieve outcomes;
Ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships with peers, team members and stakeholders in a professional team environment;
Ability to navigate dynamic environments to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes; and
Professional qualifications in Learning, Organisational Development, Business or a related discipline.
