The role
APRA’s mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.
The DevOps Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain DevOps pipelines that support continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and comprehensive automated testing. With expertise in DevOps practices, along with experience working within government agency environments, which will be essential to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient development operations. They will leverage industry-leading tools to automate and streamline testing processes, improving overall system reliability, performance, and security.
The team
The Enterprise Data Solution Team operates within the Data, Technology and Security Office. The team is responsible to manage the data platforms within APRA as well as to collaborate with the business and projects to enable APRA’s strategic deliverables. This role will report to the Manager, Enterprise Data Solutions within the EDS Team.
Primary stakeholders are the Head of Technology, Data Delivery, the CIO, other product teams within the Technology department, other teams within Data and Security and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Working in collaboration with all stakeholders, including product teams, core infrastructure and architecture.
Take high-level customer/business requirements and translate them into cost effective solutions.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing by documenting processes, tools, and best practices.
Leverage tools to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management.
Assist in managing and automating cloud environments under guidance, ensuring a secure and compliant infrastructure setup.
Assist in enabling self-healing and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Write code to automate provisioning , management of IT applications and infrastructure across on-prem and Azure.
Assist in designing, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for all stages of the software development lifecycle.
Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated build, testing and deployments into the DevOps pipeline, ensuring that code is tested early and often.
Provide support and expertise in managing security testing and vulnerability assessments within the DevOps pipeline.
Implement and monitor logging and monitoring solutions to track system health, performance, and test results.
Continuously evaluate and improve the performance of automation testing and deployment pipelines to optimize throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
Generate and analyze test reports to identify trends, failures, and potential improvements.
About you
2+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a focus on automation testing and CI/CD pipeline development.
Proven experience with modern automation testing frameworks
Preferred hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools; Ansible preferred
Preferred experience with Azure cloud platforms and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Bash).
In-depth knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
Proficiency with continuous integration tools (Azure DevOps preferred).
Experience in implementing secure coding practices and managing security in a DevOps environment.
Knowledge of encryption, data protection, and access management.
To work with us, you must be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Baseline Security clearance through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
