The role 

As an Advisor or Senior Analyst in the Banking Policy Team, you will be responsible for developing policy options to shape APRA’s prudential framework for ADIs. This includes developing the content of APRA's ADI prudential standards and prudential practice guides.  

You will also work with internal stakeholders, other government agencies and industry groups.  
 
The team 

The banking policy team is responsible for developing the prudential standards and guidance that underpin APRA’s regulation of ADIs. Success in this role will mean engaging with external stakeholders, and collaborating with APRA risk specialists, legal advisors and supervisors.  

Key responsibilities 

  • Designing and developing policy through collaborative engagement with stakeholders and relevant experts; 
  • Engaging with key stakeholders within APRA and from the financial sector and other government agencies, on policy issues to ensure that risks are addressed;   
  • Preparing papers, submissions and briefings to ensure timely and accurate responses to key policy issues; and 
  • Providing advice and assistance to key stakeholders on all matters relating to banking policy.   

 About you 

  • A strong understanding of the banking sector and prudential framework; 
  • Good judgment, strategic awareness, and ability to operate with autonomy; 
  • Ability to identify opportunities and develop solutions, with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills; 
  • A team player with a positive and constructive mindset to solving “wicked problems”; 
  • Ability to influence, drive progress, and foster good relationships with internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for advising internal and external stakeholders of key insights and conclusions; and  
  • Strong prioritisation and project management skills, able to keep large projects on track.
